Long story for me...in 2001 was dxed with type two diabetes..diet controlled, did well on it for years. I am overweight by about forty pounds and very tall, diabetes is rampant in my family on both sides. At one time I was seventy pounds overweight, lost thirty through hard work but now can't seem to shake the rest of it. In 2002 was dxed with non hodgkins lymphoma and given a thirty percent chance of survival past one year. The CHOP chemotherapy treatments made my sugar levels go to 600 or more, so was started on insulin shots which were discontinued after the chemotherapy was over. It has been five years now, and I am proud to say I've made it...only one time did I come out of remission and it was minor.

This past summer I developed a major UTI which I had never had before and out of nowhere, the sugar levels skyrocketed and stayed high no matter what I ate. Dr. started me on metformin after performing a battery of blood tests. Metformin made me sick to my stomach every day and I broke out in a horrible rash, which I still have in some places...taking forever to get rid of. I am currently on glipizide and actos. They seem to work well together, I have finally gotten my fasting bs down to below 200 in the mornings. My primary concern is keeping the sugar levels up in the afternoon, sometimes I do forget to eat and it will get very low. Today it got down to 43..took two glucose tablets and then it went to 112, which is a good number for me.

My question is this..in the last two weeks, I developed oral thrush, which is about to kill me, the pain is so intense. I was given diflucan and an oral mouthwash the pharmacist mixes...also, I have been having severe headaches almost daily and a constant feeling of aching and pains, sort of like pinpricks...anybody know what this could be? My pmp finally referred me to an endo and I will be seeing him for the first time on Monday. I pray he can give me some answers. Before this began I was working full time, volunteering at the school, and very active. Now it seems all I want to do is lie on the sofa..this is not the real me!
